           BIOGRAPHY

Gayle began studying poetry as a toddler, when she sat at her father’s feet, enchanted with the stories he told in rhyme and rhythm. She dabbled with poems and stories all her life, but didn’t begin writing in earnest until she stumbled upon a fledgling writer’s group in 1995. With the help of White County Creative Writers, she began polishing her skills.

Within a few years, Gayle was writing a bi-monthly poetics column for T-Zero Expandezine, where she could express her feelings about writing and encourage others to do what she was doing.  Later she expanded to essays and short stories. She began winning contest awards, and local newspapers published her articles on subjects such as library funding, wildlife gardens, and abandoned animals.

Gayle also writes under the name Christine Henderson.
